THE POSITION
The “Emergency Officer / Psychosocial Counselor” empowers incentive refugees involved in the emotional and therapeutic support and is responsible for maintaining quality psychosocial support to the individuals and community in the camps. . He/she will be part of the MERU (Mobile Emergency Response Unit) providing: registration, monitoring of accessibility of service delivery for those on the outskirts, rehabilitation, information on services, psychosocial support; or of the Vulnerability Desk Team located at the registration and reception points providing: emergency rehabilitation, assessment of needs and registration on a database.
He/she will be responsible for:
1. Facilitating the implementation of the counseling component of the project Conducting focus Group discussion in target communities as a means of identifying individuals to undergo one on one counseling sessions. Conducting counseling sessions for individuals and families with complicated cases.
2. Facilitating access to rehabilitation services for persons with disability
Identifying and assessing Persons with disability in the camp and community for assistance in terms of appliances and resettlement into the community.
3. Ensuring the social inclusion of people with disabilities (PWDs)
4. Empowering and mentoring incentive refugees workers to deliver and follow up quality psychosocial support.
5. Ensuring regular reporting on project activities
Qualifications and skills required
Education
High Diploma in Psychological counseling or Diploma in social work with training in counseling
Experience
Minimum 1 year working experience in a psychosocial project
Provision of counseling services preferably trauma counseling
Previous experience in a hardship area/emergency setting is an added-value
Working experience in CBR and disability inclusion programs
