Job Title: Research Assistant
Duty Station/Mission: Nairobi/ Kenya Mission
Duration: 6 months fixed term contract (with possibility of extension subject to operations)

Background of the position:

The selected candidate will report to the Epidemiologist and shall be responsible to ensure that study participants are recruited and followed up as required in the various studies being under taken in MSF Belgium project(s).

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Main Tasks include, but not limited to:
 Identify study participants from clinical and lab records and correctly fill in the required data into data collection forms/ questionnaires.
 Correctly input data from the forms into the appropriate data collection tool (data base).
 Assist the Epidemiologist to review the study participants’ clinical files for any missing data in the data base(s).
 Maintain an organized, secure filing system to ensure that all data received is entered.
 Conduct routine data quality checks and corrections in the operation research data base to ensure data entered is accurate and complete.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing; Computer literate with excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel & Word); Knowledge of FUCHIA, EPI-Info, EpiData softwares will be an added advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in similar position. NGO experience, preferably with MSF is an added advantage.

Skills: Ability to multi-task and work with accuracy and efficiency; ability to maintain confidentiality, good organisational skills, courtesy; ability to work with people of different cultural backgrounds.

Language: Proficiency in written and spoken Swahili and English.
