Position: Emergency Officer ( Physiotherapist /Occupational therapist ) - 6
Responsible to: Deputy Emergency Coordinator
Location: Dadaab refugee camps

THE POSITION
The Emergency Officer (PT/OT) empowers incentive refugees involved in the physical therapy and is responsible for implementing the emergency project by mainstreaming disability in all aspects and the provision of therapeutic and technical support in the camps. He/she will be part of the MERU (Mobile Emergency Response Unit) providing: registration, monitoring of accessibility of service delivery for those on the outskirts, rehabilitation, information on services, psychosocial support; or of the Vulnerability Desk Team located at the registration and reception points providing: emergency rehabilitation, assessment of needs and registration on a database.

He/she will be responsible for:
1. Facilitating access to rehabilitation services for persons with disability by: Identifying and assessing Persons with disability in the camp and community for assistance in terms of appliances and resettlement into the community.
2. Ensuring the social inclusion of people with disabilities (PWDs) by: Mainstreaming disability in all areas of the emergency project as a protection component.
3. Empowering and mentoring incentive refugees workers to deliver and follow up quality physical rehabilitation therapy services
4. Ensuring regular reporting on project activities
5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Deputy Emergency Coordinator

Qualifications and skills required


Education
 Diploma in Physiotherapy or Occupational therapy or a disability oriented field
Experience
 Minimum 1 year practical experience
 Previous experience in a hardship area/emergency setting is an added-value
 Working experience in rehabilitation/inclusion of children with disabilities is an added-advantage

Skills required
 Written and oral communication skills
 Somali language or experience with Somali community is a distinct advantage
